Your Trip

Ride some of Southern Utah's best mountain bike trails near Zion National Park over four days!

On this 4-day mountain bike trip you’ll explore the JEM trail system, Hurricane Rim, Gooseberry Mesa, and the Guacamole trail system. We’ll ride a range of trail styles and surfaces from flowing cross-country descents to more technical features on sandstone “slickrock.” This trip is designed for the intermediate to experienced rider comfortable on singletrack and familiar with moderate technical features.

PRINT ITINERARY

DAY 1: Meet in Las Vegas or St. George, Drive to Hurricane, UT

Today, you’ll meet your guides in Las Vegas at 7am or arrange in advance for a pickup in St. George, Utah. After a quick meet and greet, we’ll transfer to the town of Hurricane, Utah just outside Zion National Park and surrounded by a slickrock landscape. Here, we’ll dial in our bikes and set out for our first taste of riding the incredible JEM Trails network. After a trailside picnic lunch, we’ll head to our camp near Zion and enjoy our first night together under the stars surrounded by sandstone and limestone cliffs. Our fresh, hot, guide-prepared meals will leave you fueled and ready for your next three days exploring southern Utah.

Today’s ride offers up a bit of everything from intermediate technical trails on slickrock to sandy, flowing cross-country trails, and everything in between. Ride singletrack along expansive ridges peering down to the Virgin River as you test your bike handling skills and learn some new tips and tricks along the way. We’ll spend a majority of the day on the mountain bike trail, with a fresh lunch and plenty of snacks to keep you energized. With plenty of bailout spots to shorten the ride as well as options for more miles, there is no shortage of trails to ride here, allowing your guide to find you the best ride for your fitness and ability.

DAY 3: Goosberry Mesa

Wake up to the smell of a hot breakfast as we prepare for day three of riding in mountain bike paradise. Today we’ll shuttle to the Gooseberry Mesa trail system located on a tabletop formation known for its winding slickrock trails through stands of juniper trees and for its expansive vistas. Gooseberry Mesa biking is some of the best in the Southwest and is a must for every serious mountain biker. Now that you’ve had a couple of days to warm up to the trail surfaces and slickrock, you can hone your riding style and learn to flow on these fun, challenging trails. We’ll have plenty of time to stay and play and soak up the views before returning to camp.

Our last day of riding brings us to the Guacamole trail system. Located on the western border of Zion National Park, it features great views of Zion and similar style mountain biking trails to those at Gooseberry. This less-traveled trail network will have you feeling like you’re on a roller coaster with plenty of ups and downs and twists and turns. The slickrock is playful, surprising, and a great medium for testing your technical skills. After a picnic lunch, we’ll pack up and begin our journey back to Las Vegas.

Comforts of Home

Electricity: During this trip there will be limited access to electricity. We recommend bringing a portable batter pack to charge your phone for photos.

Cell Service: Cell phone service is limited at best in this part of Southern Utah. Expect all cell service to be unreliable during this trip.

Rides & Camp

On this trip we camp in a public campground near Virgin, Utah that is perfectly situated so that we can access all the best slickrock trails nearby and keep our van transfers as short as possible, but we will be driving to the trails each day. The day we ride Gooseberry Mesa will have the longest van transfer of this trip. This trip is only suited to riders with a intermediate-advanced level of technical riding skill.
