Arizona Backpacking Trips

Where to go Backpacking in Arizona

Explore the Superstition Wilderness

Commonly referred to as “The Supes”, this desert region east of Phoenix is a gold mine of superstitious history…and some argue real gold as well. Trails winding through the mountains whisper stories of Spanish Adventurers, Native inhabitants, hopeful prospectors and thieves alike. On a guided backpacking trip through the Superstition Wilderness, your guide will act as your key to these stories and others during your very own expedition through these rugged mountains. In addition to the rich history you will learn, you will also practice new backpacking skills, enjoy delicious food in the backcountry, and experience the unexpected from the desert.

Discover Aravaipa Canyon

The Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness is one of our state’s lesser explored desert canyons. Unlike many Arizona destinations, the creek runs year-round and has maintained its remote nature over the years. The farmland located in the upper and lower sections of the creek and the lightly worn paths along the water are some of the only reminders of human interference along the way.  This riparian oasis for hundreds of plant and animal species suits adventurers of all ability levels. The only prerequisite is a thirst for adventure through a desert oasis with towering canyon cliffs above.

Hike The Grand Canyon

Many of those who visit the Grand Canyon only stand on the edge of the rim and even fewer venture below. A guided Grand Canyon backpacking trip will help you understand what makes this land one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Your guide will teach you about the history, the mind-blowing geology, and take you on some of the lesser-known old mining trails so that you can find solitude in one of the most visited national parks in the country. From backpacking to the Colorado River along the Bright Angel Trail, to visiting the iconic Phantom Ranch, or hiking the canyon from North to South Rim, we have a Grand Canyon backpacking adventure for you.

Celebrate the Grand Canyon!

This year, we celebrate the Grand Canyon Centennial. Arizona’s most visited natural wonder covers approximately 1,900 square miles filled with incredible trails, wildlife, and scenery to enjoy. Get to know the Grand Canyon before you head out on a backpacking trip!
