guided hiking and camping trips all over the southwest with AOA Adventures

Go camping, and you’ll be talking about it all year

Join AOA for a trip and return home feeling refreshed, accomplished, and excited to tell the world about the fun and memorable experience you’ve had!

We always ask travelers what it is that wowed them about a camping trip with AOA. What we hear shapes how we design new trips, how we improve old trips, and how we share the experience with all of you.

Going Beyond Customer Expectations

One of the best things about a professionally guided trip is that customers set a high bar for guides to meet. There is no lolly-gagging, it is our mission to go above and beyond and ensure that the things that might typically go wrong on your camping trip go off without a hitch on ours.

“I have been on several travel tours in the past and the most frustrating take-away for me was that we were always rushed from one place to another and never given sufficient time to enjoy and savor what we came to see. However, I did not find that to be the case with AOA and this trip. We were given lots of time to enjoy the scenery, take pictures, play and explore at the many waterfalls and streams, relax at the campsite, etc. For this reason, as well as an amazing hard working guide, Amanda, I am already looking forward to booking another trip with AOA and letting others know how wonderfully you care for your guests…”

“Conscientious, prepared, professional, knowledgeable, great driver/safety all around, VERY positive attitude, encouraging, surprised us each day… and food/meals that were above and beyond good (smoked salmon, brie cheese, healthy choices, fruits and vegetables), great stamina, and constantly asked how we all were doing/felt through the hike. All [our guide] did was beyond our grandest expectations! A real gem!”

– Brenda | Grand Canyon Rim to Rim, June 2016

“Best trip ever! Perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. I don’t recall a single negative comment from anyone about anything. I’ll never forget the beauty, the descent into Mooney Falls, the laughter, the blisters, the delicious food. I never felt pressure to do more than I wanted, and I never felt restricted either. By the end of the trip the entire group felt like family. The hike out of the canyon was most challenging but no more so than I expected. I felt accomplished when it was through. Loved every second.”

– Erika | Havasupai 4-Day Escape, April 2017

The Real Question, “How is the Food?”

On all of AOA’s camping trips, fresh food is prepared by our guides daily. Dinner is always a balanced 3-course meal with fresh ingredients. You’ve never had camping food this good!

“…The trip was one I will never forget, from the people I met to the amazing food that was prepared for us at every meal and the aw-inspiring hikes. I thought we were going to be eating bologna sandwiches but we had a 3 course meal for dinner every night and the breakfasts and lunches were healthy and hearty to fuel us on our next adventure…”

– Tiffany | Havasupai 4-Day Escape, May 2018

“…Every meal was incredible.Three course dinners! I ate better and more that week than I do at home.”

– Summer | Grand Canyon Ultimate Trip, September 2017

“Jen absolutely nailed gluten free - the food was delicious and safe and was very appreciated by our celiac adventure travelers.”

– Amy | Yosemite Trip, August 2017

“My brother and I did the Havasupai Escape this weekend and it was incredible! Our guides, Staci and Eric, made this trip effortless when it came to the camp set-up, meals, etc. Every step of the way they impressed us! From their knowledge of the canyon, the Supai and everything we saw during our hikes to the delicious food prepared at each meal. To arrive at camp and have everything set-up for us with a bruschetta appetizer set out on the table was an unexpected treat. I especially loved the build your own gyro for lunch on day two and the beef rice dish, delicious…. We enjoyed every minute down in the Canyon and AOA was awesome!”

– Kelsey | Havasupai 3-Day Express, September 2017

Get to Really Know a Place

When you go on a guided trip with AOA – whether to the Yosemite High Country, the Superstition Wilderness, Southern Utah, or the Grand Canyon – you’ll see more than just the scenic views. Instead, you’ll explore on a deeper level and be fully immersed in the environment and its history, culture, and geology. So go guided, and gain both new perspectives and outdoor skills, escape the hustle and bustle of day to day life, and meet people who share your same thirst for adventure.

We learned the basics of backpacking through the back country, gained expansive knowledge about the park and its history, had a challenging but very rewarding route, ate like camping kings and created great bonds between the guide and group. We bagged peaks, swam in the river, camped near a lake, watched the solar eclipse, ate every lunch at a scenic overlook, had great campfire stories, woke up to hot coffee each morning and best of all, summited half dome at sunrise!

– Trista | Yosemite Trip, August 2017

“This was the trip of a lifetime. We had amazing, caring, knowledgeable tour guides (AJ, Tyler and Glen) whom made this experience GRAND! I do not have one complaint. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone traveling to Havasu Falls. We learned about so many secret falls, areas and history we wouldn’t have known without our guides. Do not do this trip without this company!!! You will miss out on an amazing opportunity.”
